Plastics Color Corporation Announces Safest Plant Award
Calumet City, Ill., April 9, 2010--Plastics Color Corporation (PCC), a leading supplier of color concentrates and additive masterbatches for the plastics industry, today announced the winner of its annual Safest Plant Award. The winner, the PCC of Illinois plant in Calumet City, has now won the award for the third straight year and the seventh time out of the 15 years since the competition began. Additionally, they have had four perfect years with zero injuries or illnesses and have now put together two perfect years in a row.(2008 & 2009). The award was presented by Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager Bob Lackaye at a recent luncheon.
The PCC Safest Plant Award was started in 1995 as a means to recognize the PCC facility with the lowest OSHA Recordable Injury/Illness Incidence Rate. The perfect rating is no small achievement given the 73,772 hours worked at the Illinois facility. Lackaye also recognized PCC’s China facility, which also did not have a single OSHA recordable injury or illness while working a total of 21,813 hours. “This is a remarkable record for our Nanjing, China facility, since this is their first year in the competition,” said Lackaye.
The PCC facility that wins this award gets to display a plaque listing the annual winners, and the winning facility’s plant manager also gets “bragging rights” for the year as PCC’s safest facility.

He added, “I would also like to congratulate all of our associates at each location who make safety a priority in their work day and continue to do their job year after year in a safe and responsible manner.”
